Head of Year
Overview
We would like to appoint an excellent teacher to join our Middle Leaders focusing on monitoring and improving outcomes for a particular year group. You will be joining a team of other supportive Heads of Year to continue to develop Woodmansterne as a place where pupils can become the very best that they can be. Each year group has 150 pupils with a teacher allocation of 18/26 and a non-teaching Pastoral Support Worker attached to each Key Stage. We are very proud of the high level of mutual respect and trust between our staff and pupils; our pupils are hardworking, well behaved, courteous and polite.
Personal attributes
We are looking for a dedicated, caring and hardworking Head of Year with:
- very high expectations of what each child can achieve;
- a proven track record in raising pupil attainment;
- knowledge and understanding of how to identify pastoral need and organise appropriate interventions;
- an appreciation of the importance of communication between key stages on transition;
- an understanding of how children learn and the complexities of this process;
- the aspiration to work with young people, colleagues and parents;
- the ability to successfully lead a pastoral team of tutors and pastoral support staff, establishing effective working relationships and flexible working practices;
- experience of following direction and working in collaboration with colleagues, parents, pupils and the school community;
- strong interpersonal skills;
- a creative and innovative approach to school improvement;
