Instrument and Vocal Lessons
Instrumental and vocal lessons allow students an exciting opportunity to develop their musical skills in school, alongside their classroom lessons. Taught by visiting specialist music teachers, these lessons provide high-quality, personalised instruction on a wide range of instruments during the school day.
Primary
Instrumental and vocal lessons offer an exciting opportunity for pupils to develop musical skills with the support of specialist teachers. You can choose from a wide range of instruments and lessons take place during school hours. We make sure these do not clash with English and Maths lessons.
To make good progress, regular practice at home is important. If you need an instrument for practice, some can be hired from the school for £25 per term and the teacher can advise on hiring or purchasing an instrument.
Lessons are 30 minutes each week and may be:
- Individual

- In a group of three
There is one booking per child:
- Year 2 - Piano only
- Y3-6 - All instruments

Lessons are scheduled on a rotating timetable to ensure that pupils do not miss the same subject every week. It is not possible to arrange instrumental lessons outside of normal lesson times. To make good progress, your child will need to practice their instrument regularly between lessons. Some instruments can be hired from the school for an additional £25 per term. Your child’s teacher will be able to provide guidance on purchasing or hiring an instrument.
Lessons are provided one-to-one for 30 minutes each week. In some cases, pupils may be able to share a paired lesson or receive a 30-minute individual lesson every fortnight.

Spaces are filled with priority for continuing students and then on a first come first serve basis. If space is available this will be put onto ParentPay, and you will be placed on the waiting list if not.
By paying the fees on ParentPay fees you are agreeing to our terms and conditions which include:
- Giving advance notification of at least one half-term if the pupil is to end lessons. This gives teachers fair warning of imminent changes to their hours.
- Alerting the instrumental teacher well in advance if your child will be absent (e.g. on a trip, at a medical appointment etc.) so lesson times can be swapped where possible. Please note that instrumental teachers are not obliged to make up for missed lessons and are committed to their timetabled hours.
- By signing up to instrumental lessons you are agreeing to the school sending your email address to the instrumental teachers.
