Starting right! 

At Woodmansterne, we have extensive experience in managing transition to ensure that we have the right information from the right people before your child starts school in September. Experience has taught us that it is important to know your child as early as possible, in face to face scenarios, and to allow your child to get to know their peers in the summer term to make way for new friendships!

We gave a wealth of expertise in our Year 7 transition team. Both our Head of Year and our Pastoral support remain in post with the Year 7 intake each year. This promotes very effective working relationships between our feeder primary schools and our secondary staff and help us refine our systems each year. Our Year 7 team ensure that the children are taught how to 'get it right' using our behaviour management system so that it is easier to gain all those valuable House Points and to 'start right'.

Activities included in the transactions programme for all children are:

- Primary school visits;

- Transition trip;

- Taster day;

- July Induction day;

 - July induction evening

Woodmansterne children also take part in our internal transition project. The transition project involves a host of activities which allow all of our Year 6 children to experience a secondary art and design classroom, drama studio, music lesson and participate in a science experiment to name but a few!

Applying for Year 7 - September 2025 - Applications have now closed. National offer day is Monday 3rd March 2025. If you have applied by post you will receive your offer in the post.

Pupils currently attending Woodmansterne year 6 primary automatically receive a place at Woodmansterne Secondary Year 7.
