Starting right!
At Woodmansterne, we have extensive experience in managing transition to ensure that we have the right information from the right people before your child starts school in September. Experience has taught us that it is important to know your child as early as possible, in face to face scenarios, and to allow your child to get to know their peers in the summer term to make way for new friendships!
If your child has been offered a place in Year 7 at Woodmansterne in September 2026 you will receive a letter from us detailing our Transition events.
Primary visits – TBC
Induction Evening – TBC
Transition Trip – TBC – A form will need to be completed via the link on your letter otherwise your child will be unable to attend (Year 6 Woody pupils – No need to complete a form)
Taster Day – TBC – A form will need to completed via the link on your letter otherwise your child will be unable to attend (Year 6 Woody pupils – No need to complete a form)
Woodmansterne children also take part in our internal transition project. The transition project involves a host of activities which allow all of our Year 6 children to experience a secondary art and design classroom, drama studio, music lesson and participate in a science experiment to name but a few!

YEAR 7 ENTRY
Year 7 – 2026
If your child is offered a place at Woodmansterne Year 7, or your child is currently in our Year 6 and are transferring to our Year 7, you will receive an email from our Admissions Team informing you of all the events we have arranged.
If you are new to Woodmansterne please can you complete and send the required documentation by the deadline dates.

Entry to Year 7 2027 – Open days will be confirmed later in the year.
Pupils currently attending Woodmansterne Year 6 primary automatically receive a place at Woodmansterne Secondary Year 7.
We have a wealth of expertise in our Year 7 transition team. Both our Head of Year and our Pastoral support remain in post with the Year 7 intake each year. This promotes very effective working relationships between our feeder primary schools and our secondary staff and help us refine our systems each year. Our Year 7 team ensure that the children are taught how to 'get it right' using our behaviour management system so that it is easier to gain all those valuable House Points and to 'start right'.
