Home Learning
Each BTEC and A-Level course delivers 5 hours of teaching per week. Subjects are additionally expected to set around 4 hours of formal home learning per week. This is generally work which follows or precedes individual lessons and will often be marked or checked by teachers. Such tasks may include, but not be limited to:
- Exam papers
- Essays
- Textbook tasks
- Research
- Active reading
- Creative tasks
- Pre-teaching
In addition to formal home learning there is an expectation that students do additional work guided by staff, in line with the requirements of the subject. Such tasks may include, but is not limited to:
- Reading of set texts
- Research
- Weekly revision of topics
- Practice papers
- Webinars
- Updating coursework
Students are allotted study periods in their school timetables to support them in their meeting of these course demands.
